RULES & REGULATIONS

Know the Game Before You Play

10 Teams Per League

Each league features 10 franchise teams competing head-to-head throughout the tournament.

100 Cr Virtual Budget

Every team gets a 100 Crore virtual budget (Gavels) to build their squad at the auction.

13–16 Player Squads

Teams must build a squad of 13 to 16 players, depending on league format and team count.

Overseas Cap (Max 4)

A maximum of 4 overseas (international) players can be included in the playing XI.

RTM Cards

Returning teams may receive Right To Match (RTM) cards to retain key players from the previous season.

15-Second Bid Timer

Each bid round has a 15-second timer. If no new bid is placed, the player is sold to the highest bidder.

Sealed Bid at 18 Cr

When bidding reaches 18 Crores, the auction switches to a sealed-bid format for final offers.

Absolute Auction Format

All players in the pool must be auctioned — every player finds a team regardless of base price.

Rules may vary slightly between league editions. The Auction League reserves the right to modify rules for balance and fairness. All bidding uses virtual currency (Gavels) — no real money is involved.

From 8 Friends to 27 Leagues

2017

The Beginning

8 friends around a table. One laptop. An Excel sheet. The first-ever fantasy cricket auction was born from pure passion.

2018

Slowly Growing

Word was spreading. More friends joined in, the format was evolving, and the idea was quietly taking shape into something bigger.

2019

Growing the Game

Refined the format, better rules, more players. What started as a hobby was becoming a movement.

2020

The Live Auctioneer Era

Introduced a live auctioneer for the first time. 5–6 leagues done, ~35 franchises created, and the energy shifted — suddenly it felt like a real IPL auction room.

2021

Building the Platform

Together with CricBattle, we began co-building a dedicated auction platform. A true partnership — combining our auction expertise with their tech to take the experience to the next level.

2022

Going Digital

The CricBattle platform went live. What was once Excel sheets and manual tracking became a professional, seamless auction experience — built together from the ground up.

2023

Going Big

4 leagues in a single year. 10 franchises per league. The community was thriving with banter, rivalries, and bragging rights.

2024

Scaling Up

5 leagues with growing demand. Corporate teams, friend circles, and communities all wanted in.

2025

6 Leagues & Counting

6 leagues completed. 70 franchises created. Each franchise owner brought along 5–7 friends — over 300 people connected through this journey.

2026

20+ Auctions. One Season.
